After listening to Tama's lecture on digital shadows i felt i had a better understanding of privacy and the pros and cons of social networking. Social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Blogs aren't always protected with the proper privacy tools and too much information is on show. Some people don't realise what is posted on these social tools are forever searchable and public.
I read a very interesting paragraph from the book, Manager's Guide to Social Media;
'In the last year, the top social networking sites have agreed to let google and others tap into their entire stream of user conversations. For example, Twitter now provides its entire daily stream of tweets to companies that wish to purchase the rights to them. The U.S. Library of Congress has decided to archive every tweet that has ever been done in a database for public access. That means if your name has ever been mentioned by one of your friends or coworkers on Twitter (or some of the other top sites) anyone interested in you can do a simple google search and get a glimpse into your life.'
